Little known fact: I was a bartender in the summertime when I lived back in Maine at a brew pub. Better known fact: I’m Paleo, and don’t touch beer with a ten foot pole (it’s a glass full of bread people- would you eat a loaf of bread? Probably not. So why would you drink it?!). The endless irony that existed with me performing as a non-beer drinking, school year teaching, scrawny nice girl bartender was priceless. And it got me great tips.
Here’s the real deal, folks. There is some serious research out there (read some basics here) to back up the reasons why you should save that six pack for never and trade it in for some tasty, refreshing, far more classy (and body-friendly) summer cocktails. I’m doing you a favor, folks- beach season is right around the corner and we all know that a bottle full of bread is not going to help the bikini body cause.
Let’s scrap the sugar and gluten and shake up some delicious, paleo-friendly cocktails to get this summer started! I’m kicking it off with my own signature creation, the Paleo Pink Lemonade, and a series of links to some other amazing Paleo drinks. Enjoy!
Paleo Pink Lemonade
- Juice of one lime
- Polar sparkling craberry seltzer
- 2 oz Bombay Sapphire Gin
- Splash of Cranberry Juice
- 3 Lime wedges
In a tall glass, muddle the lime wedges. Fill the glass with ice, add gin, cranberry, and lime juice, and shake- hard! Top with cranberry seltzer and serve!
